What is the purpose of the International flags at the bottom of the page?

Clicking on them doesn’t seem to separate out answers by country. I’m in the USA and when I click on the American flag and go to the soap operas section, for example, I see all these questions about an English soap opera.

It’s because all the questions about the English soap opera were posted under the American flag, and not British flag. Who knows, maybe a lot of Americans are watching that soap opera.

The Difference between U.S soap operas and U.K Soap operas

I don’t know if Americans are Aware of Uk soap operas but i remember when Dallas and Dynasty used to be on British TV and was wondering.

Dallas & Dynasty were “prime time soaps” that is shown in the 7-10pm time period-they last for 3- 10 yrs usually and are usually about 26 episodes a TV ’season” one hr a week

- but we also have ‘daytime soaps” that run in the late mornings/afternoons-that run all yr long 5 days a week-all but one are 1 hr long.- the ‘Daytime” soaps were not as highly watched or respected as a show like Dallas was. While one person won’t mind saying they watched Dallas or the OC they may not want to admit that they watch the Young & the Restless even though basicly they are the same formatt.– I have never understood it myself.

Daytime soaps can get into strange storylines- time travel, spies, mobsters, characters coming back from the Dead, – some More than Once!!- Look a like Siblings ( the same actor) or cousin, lots of character in A comas, even a Possed by the Devil and a Cloned Storyline!
There is usually at least One Rich family in daytime- lots of Drs, lawyers, fashion/cosmetics companies but there is also some middle and working class characters too.

Where I live we had EastEnders for about 15 yrs ( it is no longer on here) and there is a lot of differences between it and the usa soaps- daytime or nighttime.

One thing (and maybe this has changed since the last I saw a Brit soap) usa daytime soaps have often had some fairly Graphic love scenes-they have been toned down the last couple of yrs though- now there seems to be lots of “comfort/revenage’/casual sex. Real Romance is lacking-( Just My Opinion ) on both day and nighttime soaps

and also for the last few yrs on one show has lots of violence-ie bombs & bullets/ explosions)
